USIST 2020 Cancelled

Dear Judo friends,

It is with huge sadness that I am announcing the cancellation of USIST 2020 over coronavirus concerns. All entry fees will be refunded in due course.

With various institutions restricting and cancelling activities, we are concerned that we could have been told to cancel closer to the event which would cause various frustrations for participating teams. We also feel a level of social responsibility to make our own sacrifices to slow the outbreak. We felt particular concern for all our friends who would be travelling internationally to attend. Overall we have decided to cancel the event today rather than take the risks, and believe it is the right decision.

We really hope this news does not cause you all too many difficulties and that you are able to cancel your travel arrangements with minimal losses. We will miss you greatly and are gutted to break USIST's 22 year streak since its inception. Rest assured we will be back next year for USIST 2021, hopefully bigger and better than ever!

With love,

Finlay

New year, new grades

Well done to Kai and Jacob who, in the first session of 2020, successfully graded to Orange belt (4th kyu).

Samurai Masters & High grades

Sheffield Judo club recently took a trip to Walsall centre of excellence to take part in the Samurai High grades & Masters competition.

Jules was the stand out player of not only Sheffield Judo club but of the competition, having only recently being promited to 1st kyu he went and smashed his way to gold and 70 dan points(!) on the day.

We also saw our captain (new 1st dan) taking part in the 1st dan section claiming 10 points for his second dan, even the club coach had a go in the masters section (taking silver).
